This is a MUST for Gunner to continue to be the happy fellow he is now. *Update: July 20, 2009: Gunner is doing great. He loves everyone he meets. He gets along great with kids, cats, and dogs. *Update March 23, 2009: Gunner is now ready for a forever home!! He had his teeth cleaned and has been neutered. He is also up to date on all shots. He may have to keep up visits with a vet chiropractor to keep his back in condition but he's doing so good and running and playing in the yard every chance he gets. * Hi, my name is Gunner and Im six years old. I once traveled with my owner to many places where I competed with other dachshunds in the show ring. Once I was became a champion I was locked in a concrete run with other dachshunds where I lived until my back was injured. My owner did not have the money to take me to the vet so I did not receive treatment until I was placed with Coast To Coast Dachshund Rescue which was several weeks later. Im able to walk but I cannot feel where my back feet so I dont notice that Im walking like a drunken sailor. When I get tired I will drag my back legs but it doesnt dampen my spirit, I love life and am extremely happy to be living in a home where I sleep on a warm blanket and a nice soft dog bed. My doctor thinks with time and physical therapy I will walk with a steadier gait but it will take time and a lot of hard work. I will never be a champion show dog again but I will make someone a wonderful family member. I love everyone, have excellent doggy manners, get along great with my foster dachshund brothers and sister and even my foster brother cat. I still need to be neutered, have my teeth cleaned and have my shots once my back is feeling better. I need your help to get better as my medical bills are getting expensive and CCDR needs help to pay them so I can continue to get better and find my own forever home with a family to love of my own.
